Remembering donors and their families

On Saturday 12 February I represented Gift of Life Inc at the 2022 DonateLife ACT Service of Remembrance and Thanksgiving at the the National Gallery of Australia. DonateLife hosted families of deceased organ and tissue donors, living donors, recipients, healthcare professionals, and others that have been touched by organ and tissue donation.

It was a very moving service and a reminder of the generous gift that donors and their families have given. As a corneal transplant recipient, it was an opportunity to remember and reflect on how valuable this gift is, not just for those lives saved but also for those of us who have had our quality of life improved so ignorantly.

Thank you also to the Donate Life Team, the nursing and health professionals who make all this possible. Many shared their experiences of working with donor families.
